With the arrival of fall, it’s a good time to arrange the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some unique decorations can be a good way to begin the season and get in the mood for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.
Improve your curb appeal this year with these fun décor projects that are easy, unique and on-trend:
Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This DIY will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you would like to place the garland. Either way, all this project takes is a few simple steps: determine the length of your rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few extra inches to get a droopy effect, and stick corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Put up your new garland to highlight your home access points!
Project #2: Door Wreath
Take the beautiful fall colors and transform them into a DIY wreath to hang on your door. The supply list includes a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here is the process: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap pieces around the wreath while gluing foliage alongside the burlap pieces.
Project #3: Welcome Sign
Creat an inviting feel to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign outside of your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw interest toward your festive fall entryway.
And while creating unique and colorful outdoor decorations is an easy way to get into the season spirit, remember to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the cooler weather, too. They will look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are aged or unprepared for the approaching winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling chilly in the upcoming months.
